MagicPhone's Voice Application Development (VAD) Group designs & develops speech enabled phone applications based on the W3C standard VoiceXML 2.0. It has built several VoiceXML applications in French & English and now plans to localize these applications to the Dutch-speaking market. To support this localization effort, MagicPhone currently has a job for a computational linguist (Dutch) on a temporary basis (1 month full time, or equivalent). The position is available *immediately*. Candidates can apply for either an internship or a standard temporary position. Responsibilities: - Create & maintain Dutch phonetic dictionaries, used in speech recognition applications - Create & maintain formal grammars (Nuance GSL format) in Dutch, used in speech recognition applications - Develop Voice User Interface prompts in Dutch, in collaboration with Voice User Interface designer - Conduct linguistic analyses of specific application domains - Linguistic data management Requirements: - Native speaker of Dutch, with excellent knowledge of English (written + spoken). Facility with French or German is an advantage - M.A. in Computational Linguistics, with specialization in phonetics (or equivalent) - Fluent command of IPA and other phonetic transcription conventions - Knowledge of formal grammars / regular expressions - Proven computer literacy - basic knowledge of programming Profile: - Excellent organizational skills - Detail-orientated, perfectionist - Able to work independently and in team - Contacts with universities and other institutes of language learning an advantage - Willingness to travel occasionally for training purposes If this job interests you, please send your application letter + resume ASAP (preferably by e-mail) to: Frederik Durant (f.durant
