Dear Linguists! I would be interested to learn whether the article by MacFarquhar and Richards 'On Dictionaries and Definitions' (published in 1983 in RELC Journal) has ever been reviewed. The only thing I was able to find was a brief comment in Cowie (1999). I would like to make use of the procedure that MacFarquhar and Richards followed in their study (modifying its contents, though, by including more dictionary types and tasks) that is why any feedback on that article is more than welcome. Also, I would be very pleased to get to know lexicographers (but also general linguists, or semanticists) interested in the problems of defining meaning in dictionaries. I will post a summary of what I have got received Greetings Andrzej Zychla Zielona Gora University, Poland zychlaMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuepoczta.onet.pl
