We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Subject: linguistic analysis programs for MacIntosh
Dear readers,
could anyone recomend me a program for phonetic analysis compatible
with the MacIntosh which can handle 3 variables at a time (as opposed
to GoldVarb which can handle only 2? I.e., a program similar to
GoldVarb with the difference of the number of possible settings for
the dependent variable?) Please respond directly to me and I'll post a
summary or any results. (Help would be most appreciated!)
Enjoy the summer/season, Angela Bartens

Dear Listers,
I wonder if anyone can help me help a student. I would be interested
to find any references to research on the L2 acquisition of French
Liaison, especially by native speakers of English. I will post a
summary. Thanks Martin Paviour-Smith
