Description:

Edge Hill is looking for an enthusiastic and well-qualified person to
teach in the English Language section of the department and contribute
to the development of Language studies, alongside the other full time
and part time staff. In addition, it is expected that the person
appointed will undertake research for publication. The position is to
be filled for 1st September 2003.

It is hoped to appoint someone who will be able to contribute to both
BA and MA programmes. In particular, the department is seeking to
appoint someone who is able to teach in as many as possible of the
following areas:
* The history and development of the English language
* (English) Phonetics and phonology
* Modern English structure and usage (=English Grammar 1)

The ability to teach one of the following would also be an advantage:
* Language and gender
* English as a global language
* Language and education

It is expected that you will have an active research profile in one of
the above areas, along with an ability to teach at higher
undergraduate level in some of the other areas.

Edge Hill is a Higher Education Institution accredited by Lancaster
University. It is situated in the North-West of England, within easy
reach of Liverpool and Manchester.
