Ecology and language history in Southeast Asia" Wilaiwan Khanittanan (Thammasat University, Thailand) "Traces of Taoism in Tai Languages" Martha Ratliff (Wayne State University, USA) To be announced Abstract submission and deadline: Abstracts in any area of Southeast Asian linguistics or applied linguistics are welcomed for oral presentation (20 minutes + 10-minute discussion) or poster presentation. The criteria for selection are originality, clarity, comprehensiveness, and significant contribution to the particular sub-discipline. Colloquia slots will be arranged on the basis of the subjects of the received abstracts. Please send two hard copies (including your name, affiliation, presentation title, and contact addresses) to the address below. Please do NOT submit your abstracts by e-mail or fax. The deadline for submission is 15 October 2003. Papers may be delivered in English of French. Speakers will be allowed a maximum of 20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion. Potential contributors should submit an abstract (no more than one page in length, with title and names of all presenters), preferably by email, by 5 September 2003. All submissions should include the name, address, affiliation, telephone and fax number, and email address of each presenter. Presentations will begin on Thursday 23, Octber in the afternoon and will end on Sunday, 26 October 2003 at noon. The registration fee, payable to the 35th Algonquian Conference, UWO, is $50, if received by 5 September 2003, and $60 thereafter, with student rates $15 lower. The registration fee includes lunches on Friday and Saturday afternoon and morning and afternoon coffee breaks.
