There will be two main types of presentation: 30-minute research papers and plenaries given by the following guest speakers: Prof. Mercedes Bengoechea, Universidad de Alcala de Henares, Spain. Prof. Rainier Enrique Hamel, Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana, Mexico. Prof. Henk Haverkate, Emeritus Professor, University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Prof. Ralph Penny, Queen Mary College, University of London, UK. *** Third Call for Papers *** Researchers are invited to submit abstracts of no more than 300 words on theoretical and/or empirical research in: Hispanic sociolinguistics, pragmatics or discourse analysis. Contrastive/comparative studies between varieties of Spanish or between Spanish and other languages, and studies in the aforementioned areas applied to the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language, will also be considered. We intend to publish a selection of peer-reviewed articles. Deadline for the receipt of abstracts: 31 August 2003. Format: please send abstracts as either rtf or word documents.
