4th International Conference AELCO/SCOLA Short Title: AELCO/SCOLA 2004 Date: 13-May-2004 - 15-May-2004 Location: Zaragoza, Spain Contact: Carlos Inchaurralde Contact Email: inchaurMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issueunizar.es Linguistic Sub-field: General Linguistics Call Deadline: 15-Dec-2003 Meeting Description: 4th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AELCO/SCOLA Zaragoza, 13 to 15 May 2004 First Call for Papers The Spanish Cognitive Linguistics Association (AELCO/SCOLA), a member society of the International Cognitive Linguistics Association, has as its main objective the promotion of research from a cognitive linguistics perspective. There is, among its interests, a wide spectrum of theoretical proposals based on the idea that language is an integral part of cognition. At the same time, language reflects the interaction of cultural, psychological, communicative and functional aspects, and should be studied in the context of conceptualisation and mental processing. AELCO/SCOLA's conferences take place every two years. Past conferences were held in Alicante (1998), Madrid (2000), and Valencia (2002). Call for papers We invite all interested scholars to contribute with papers applied to the study of any language with a cognitive linguistics approach. Papers will have a duration of twenty minutes plus five minutes for discussion. The main topic of this 4th Conference will be the study of the structural characteristics of natural language categorization and other related areas of research like metaphor, mental images, cognitive models, prototypicality, etc. In addition, there will also be room for contributions dealing with other aspects of cognitive linguistics such as, for instance, the conceptual interaction between syntax and semantics, the functional principles of linguistic organization or the relations between language and thought. Interested authors should send three hard copies (by ordinary mail) of the abstract to the address below and one electronic copy (in Word or RTF format) to the e-mail address inchaur
