University or Organization: University at Buffalo Department: The Department of Linguistics Rank of Job: Assistant Professor Specialty Areas: Chinese/Korean Linguistics Description: Assistant Professor in Chinese Linguistics at the University at Buffalo The Department of Linguistics at the University at Buffalo seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank; it will begin September 1, 2004. The position is for a specialist in Chinese linguistics to head the program in Chinese language at UB. The successful candidate will have native or near-native competence in Mandarin Chinese, will have experience teaching Mandarin as a foreign language at the university level, and will have a Ph.D. in Linguistics or Chinese Linguistics; the exact research specialization within (Chinese) Linguistics is open. The primary teaching responsibilities associated with the position are courses in Mandarin and an introductory course in Chinese linguistics or a course in linguistics. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and supervise the Chinese language program.
