University or Organization: The University of Memphis Department: The Institute for Intelligent Systems (IIS) Rank of Job: Post Doc Specialty Areas: Computational Linguistics Description: COMPUTATIONAL LINGUIST: The Institute for Intelligent Systems (IIS) and the Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis invite applications for a postdoctoral position in computational linguistics. The ideal candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. in linguistics, cognitive science or related discipline with a strong interest in natural language processing. This position will primarily involve the development and testing of automated measures of text cohesion and coherence. Therefore, a strong knowledge of one or more programming languages (C++, Java, Visual Basic, etc.) is a prerequisite. Furthermore, knowledge of (and interest in) cognitive science and linguistics is required. Evaluations of candidates will begin on December 1, 2003, but applications may be considered until the position is filled.
