University or Organization: Alameda Alliance for Health Department: Marketing & Communications Rank of Job: Translation Project Specialist Specialty Areas: Translation Description: Under the general direction of the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Translation Project Specialist will assist in organizing and implementing internal translation services, initiatives and operations including but not limited to: - Coordinate translation services, including: receiving, processing, monitoring and organizing all translation requests; serve as key liaison with translation vendors and designers; track translated documents; maintain language glossaries, catalog all project components and report on status of projects on a weekly basis. - Work with designers and translation vendors to ensure compatibility of files in order to streamline the production, exchange and printing of translated materials. - Work with designers to research and maintain culturally appropriate photo libraries. - Coordinate translation of documents for all Alliance departments - Adhere to threshold language requirements. - Assist with the identification and collection of relevant information and resources about translation issues and practices. - Create production reports documenting translation activities. - Obtain letters of attestation from translation vendors verifying accuracy of all translated materials. EDUCATION OR TRAINING EQUIVALENT TO: Bachelor's degree or greater from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSE): - Multilingual in a threshold language (Spanish or Chinese). - Experience with both PC and MAC platforms. - Proficient with Microsoft Office programs as well graphic design programs such as Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Reader, CD burning software and scanning software. - Ability to clearly communicate expectations and maintain good relations with multiple vendors. - Excellent follow-through skills are essential. - Ability to manage multiple projects at one time from inception through completion and in an efficient and organized manner. - Ability to work with diverse cultural and socioeconomic groups including providers, members, and staff.
