University or Organization: University of British Columbia Department: The Department of Linguistics Rank of Job: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor Specialty Areas: Formal Semantics Description: The Department of Linguistics at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track position in Formal Semantics to begin July 1, 2004, with appointment at the rank of either Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The successful candidate should have a primary specialisation in Formal Semantics. We especially encourage applicants with research expertise in one or more of the following areas: Linguistic Fieldwork, First Nations (Amerindian) languages or African languages or other less well-studied languages, Language Acquisition, Language Processing, Cognitive Science. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. and have demonstrated excellence in, and a strong commitment to, research, as well as an ability to teach a variety of courses in linguistics at the graduate and undergraduate levels. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
