The CSULB Linguistics Department invites applications for a tenure-track position in English as a Foreign or Second Language. The appointment, at Assistant/Associate level, is effective August 25, 2003. Candidates should have an earned doctorate by time of appointment with a specialization related to the teaching and learning of English as a foreign/second language, as well as a record in teaching, research, service, and publication commensurate with professional level. Teaching duties include undergraduate courses in language acquisition and graduate courses in TEFL/TESL. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an active research program, be able to direct student research, and participate in the BA program in Linguistics. Preferred qualifications include the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: second language writing, classroom research, applied linguistics. Also preferred is the ability to create and maintain connections with educational institutions in other countries, and to obtain research support. Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, official transcripts from institution awarding doctorate, teaching portfolio including teaching statement, course syllabi, and teaching evaluation summaries.
