University or Organization: The University of Auckland Department: Applied Language Studies and Linguistics Rank of Job: Lecturer Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics, General Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Second Language Acquisition, Second Language Literacy Description: Purpose Statement: - To teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervise research. - To maintain the Department�Euro(tm)s profile, nationally and internationally, through attracting research funding and through research outputs. - To contribute to the administrative functioning of the Department. Responsible To: - Head of Department, Applies Language Studies and Linguistics. Key Accountability Areas: - Commit to scholarly research and assist in developing the profile of the Department. - Develop a scholarly reputation in the field of applied linguistics. - To compete for research funds, to present academic papers at scholarly conferences, and to publish both nationally and internationally. - Contribute to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. - Supervise PhD and MA theses. Qualifications: - Applicants should hold a doctorate in Applied Linguistics/TESOL/Applied Language Studies. A teaching qualification would be a strong recommendation. Attributes and Skills: - Candidates should have the ability to develop a scholarly reputation in the field of applied linguistics. Applicants should also have a number of academic publications and be able to attract research funding.
