University or Organization: University of Florida Department: Linguistics Rank of Job: Assistant or Associate Professor Specialty Areas: English as a Second Language Description: Linguistics at the University of Florida seeks a Director of Combined ESL Programs at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning August 2004. Qaulifications: Active involvement in TESL with experience in administering ESL programs and some of the following: training and mentoring teachers, testing, and developing materials and programs, including using technology, Native or near-native command of English, Doctorate in hand at beginning of contract. Duties: Overseeing the administration and development of three ESL programs: The English Language Institute, Academic Spoken English, and The Scholarly Writing Program. Each program has its own coordinator. Teach one TESL related course per semester in Linguistics, direct theses and dissertations, actively develop materials and conduct research in the areas being administered, share responsibility with other faculty members in the governance of linguistics. Salary Range $45,000-$65,000.
