The BBC Online site mentioned in Elizabeth Pyatt's message (18 Nov)
contained wrong information about the Durham situation. The BBC has
now corrected it. See

Durham City Council's request to the University to reconsider its
decision covered only East Asian Studies, not Linguistics. The
University has not said the departments ''fell short'' of University
standards.
