Among other, a paper is given by Prof. Hans Goebl (Austria, Salzburg), who is is the foremost authority on measuring dialect differences in the world. Dear linguists, On january 9, 2004 the workshop PROGRESS IN DIALECTOMETRY will be held at the University of Groningen, Faculty of Arts (Harmonie Building), Groningen. We would like to invite everybody who is interested in issues related to dialectometry to feel free to come to this workshop. It is a free workshop with a varied programme. It also offers a great possibility to meet with other people interested in dialectometry as well as to get first-hand information on current research in various areas of (computational) dialectology. Papers are given by Wilbert Heeringa, Prof. Hans Bennis, Sjef Barbiers, Prof. Georges de Schutter, Charlotte Gooskens, Prof. John Nerbonne, Prof. Hermann Niebaum, Prof. Hans Goebl and Edgar Haimerl. Prof. Goebl is the foremost authority on measuring dialect differences in the world.
