This interdisciplinary conference was first held in 1977 and brings together researchers from all over the world. Proposals are invited for papers and posters on issues related to child language acquisition and disorders. Submission deadline is 1st March 2004. Child Language Seminar 12-14 July 2004 University of the West of England Calls for papers - First Announcement Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for discussion) on any aspect of child language, including first language acquisition, second language acquisition in children, bilingual first and second language acquisition, speech development and language delay and disorder in children. There will also be poster presentations. Oral presentations and posters will be in English. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words in length (including examples and references), in 12-point type. All margins should be at least one inch wide (or 2.5 cm). Please also include a summary of 150 words. In both cases please indicate the word count. Authors are asked to submit their abstracts as e-mail attachments (pdf or rtf formats are preferred, MS Word is also acceptable) with a hard copy to follow within 1 week. No submissions will be accepted by fax. In the email message, please also include the title of the paper, name of the author(s), affiliation(s), address, phone number, and e-mail address. A Postgraduate Workshop will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday 31st March 2004. The workshop will run in two parallel sessions followed by a common general discussion and question & answer session. Session A: 'Kickstarting Your Research' is designed for research postgraduates who are at the start of their studies and who are still formulating their research questions, designing their methodologies, and perhaps preparing to start data collection. Session B: 'Kickstarting your Career' will suit postgraduates who are nearing submission of their theses. They may be thinking about shaping their dissertation material for publication, and considering academic career possibilities post-PhD. Although these sessions are most suitable for research postgraduates, students studying for Masters degrees are also welcome. This is a message for all postgraduate students who are planning to attend the 15th Sociolinguistics Symposium at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (1-4 April 2004, http://www.ncl.ac.uk/ss15, note that registration deadline is 31st of January 2004).
