Dear Subscribers, LINGUIST List is taking a break for the Holidays and for LSA from 22 December 2003 until 11 January 2004. During this time we will not be checking email, and there will be no new information added to the website, since everything submitted through a form must be approved by one of our editors. However, the website will still be accessible. We will also stop posting issues during this time. But we guarantee that everything submitted by Sunday, 21 December 2003 will be posted before we shut down. Anything submitted after this date will not be posted until Monday 12 January 2004. Come visit us at LSA! Most of the LINGUIST List crew is going to LSA 2004 in Boston. We will be having office hours in the Conference Room. Stop by and meet us! Here is our schedule: Friday, 9 January 2004 2p - 3p Saturday, 10 January 2004 2p - 4p During our office hours we will be soliciting feedback on our regular services and also demonstrating some of the software and facilities LINGUIST List has created as part of the E-MELD project. In particular, we would like to show you our web-based data input facility FIELD and the E-MELD School of Best Practices in the Digital Documentation of Language. E-MELD is also presenting a symposium at LSA entitled "Endangered Data vs. Enduring Practice: Creating Language Resources that Last." If you are interested in the digital documentation of language, please join us from 9-11 am. Friday, Jan 9, 2004 in the Republic Ballroom of the LSA conference hotel. Happy Holidays! -LINGUISTMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
