Is there a table available for symbol conversions of the type: ''umlaut ''u'' in German can be written as ''ue''''? I would need this for all languages.Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
On behalf of a student, I'm looking for readily available (preferably transcribed) corpora of infant babbling. She is hoping to compare babbling in (Saudi) Arabic and English, but we're interested in finding whatever babbling data we can for comparison. Looking through the CHILDES database handbook, the children involved tend not to be recorded until at least over one year old and often not until later. Since my student is interested in looking at younger children, we've not noticed anything appropriate there, but it could be that we're overlooking something or that there's babbling info in more recent additions to the database. So if you'd like to suggest the CHILDES database, we'd appreciate it if you could point out which data sets in particular have a lot of babbling data.
