University or Organization: York University Department: Languages, Literatures and Linguistics Rank of Job: Assistant Professor Specialty Areas: Syntax, Semantics, Language Acquisition, Psycholinguistics Description: Applications are invited for a contractually limited, one-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Linguistics commencing July 1, 2003. Qualifications: Ph.D., strong research record, publications and demonstrated teaching ability. We are seeking a candidate whose primary area of expertise is in the area of syntax. The Linguistics Programme at York offers a broad range of courses and encompasses a variety of interests and theoretical approaches. Consequently, in addition to teaching syntax at the undergraduate level, the successful candidate will have competence in and be prepared to teach in one or more of the following areas: semantics, language acquisition, psycholinguistics and introductory linguistics. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Graduate Programme in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, samples of scholarly work and copies of peer and student teaching evaluations. As well, applicants should arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to arrive before the deadline.
