University or Organization: University of Cambridge Department: Linguistics Rank of Job: Lecturer Specialty Areas: Phonetics Description: Temporary Lectureship in the Phonetic Sciences University of Cambridge The Department of Linguistics, University of Cambridge, proposes to appoint a temporary University Lecturer in the Phonetic Sciences. This non-renewable appointment will be for 3 years, from 1 October 2003 to 30 September 2006, to replace Dr. Sarah Hawkins, who has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship. The position involves teaching acoustic phonetics, experimental phonetics, speech perception, aspects of the biological and psychological foundations of speech, experimental design, and basic statistics, to second, third, and fourth-year undergraduates, and first-year graduate students taking the MPhil in Linguistics. The ability to teach widely in psycholinguistics would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to administration and to show achievement and potential in research and publication in the field.
