Dear Subscribers, When I wrote this letter last year, there were over 6,000 entries in our directory of linguists, which was an increase of 1,000 from 2002. As I write this letter, the current number of linguists listed in our directory is 8,478. That's an increase of over 2,000! This is a good example of how much Linguist List has grown in just a year. This also means the cost of maintaining the site has grown as well: to process all of this information, we require more editors, new equipment, etc. We need your support to keep this valuable resource available to linguists everywhere. One of the reasons our personal directory is so popular is that once you have entered your information, you can also add a dissertation abstract and abstracts for your academic papers. It's a great way to share your work with the rest of the world. And it also happens to be free. In case you haven't visited this area of Linguist List yet, take a look at http://linguistlist.org/people/personal/index.html . You can search for people by linguistic subfield, language and/or language family specialty, institution, and the list goes on... You can add or update your entry in just a few minutes. If you are not already a part of our personal directory, we invite you to add yourself at: http://www.linguistlist.org/people/personal/first-sign-in.html . The personal directory is only part of our people & organizations area, which can be found at: http://linguistlist.org/people/index.html There you can find more information on linguistic societies, funding sources, and projects & research sites, just to name a few! Please consider donating, so that we can continue to offer these valuable services to the linguistics community! Sincerely, Marie Klopfenstein ***************************************************************** We have already raised over $12,000! Please help us reach our target of $60,000. Even a small donation really does make a difference. As a 501(c)3 organization, LINGUIST qualifies for corporate donation-matching programs; and, of course, your donation is tax deductible. To donate now using our secure web form, visit: http://www.linguistlist.org/donate.html For instructions on how to donate, or how to make a pledge now and pay later, visit: http://linguistlist.org/donation.html Thank you for your support!Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
This Year the LINGUIST List hope to raise $60,000. This money will go to help keep the List running, by supporting all of our Student Editors for the coming year. There are many ways to donate to LINGUIST! You can donate right now using our secure credit card form, at: http://www.linguistlist.org/donate.html You can also pledge right now and pay later, at: http://www.linguistlist.org/pledge.html For all information on donating, including information on how to donate by check, money order, or wire transfer, please visit: http://www.linguistlist.org/donation.html ALREADY PLEDGED? If you have already pledged to LINGUIST and would now like to pay by credit card, please go to: http://linguistlist.org/creditcard-general.html and select 'PAY PREVIOUS PLEDGE' as the Type of Payment from the dropdown list provided. The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor. Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program. Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
