Dear Linguists, I joined LINGUIST in May 2000 as a graduate assistant to work on the LINGUIST database/site design. I have grown so much in the last 4 years at LINGUIST from being a part-time GA to a full-time project manager. I have learnt a lot of things as well including programming, linguistics, designing interfaces, and managing LINGUIST crew. LINGUIST crew is an amazing group of hard-working students who are talented, and easy to manage. They are always willing to help each other. Different cultures and academic backgrounds has never hindered our work flow, or friendship -- I think that is our strength! When I am not overseeing some project, or tutoring new editors in databases, I program ColdFusion pages and sometimes PHP pages. I love being a programmer and a project manager -- it is like 'having my cake and eating it too'. On a personal level, I was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Mandira. Becoming a mom has not kept me from working for LINGUIST. I love all the challenges this job offers everyday, it is very rewarding. I would like to thank you all for your support -- you are the reason that I am here working for the fourth consecutive year doing what I love! Every year during Fund Drive we tell a little about ourselves so that we are a little more than an email address! Also, this write-up tells you briefly as to where your dollars go. LINGUIST not only provides free services to users, but also helps deserving students study and achieve their goals by funding them. Your donation is what makes LINGUIST continue working on its mission. Please contribute to keep LINGUIST alive! Thank you, Gayathri Sriram To read more about Gayatri, go to: http://www.linguistlist.org/people/gayatri.html ****************************************************************** We have already raised $14,030! Please help us reach our target of $60,000. Even a small donation really does make a difference! As a 501(c)3 organization, LINGUIST qualifies for corporate donation-matching programs; and, of course, your donation is tax deductible. To donate now using our secure web form, visit: http://www.linguistlist.org/donate.html For instructions on how to donate, or how to make a pledge now and pay later, visit: http://linguistlist.org/donation.html Thank you very much for your support!Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
This Year the LINGUIST List hope to raise $60,000. This money will go to help keep the List running, by supporting all of our Student Editors for the coming year. There are many ways to donate to LINGUIST! You can donate right now using our secure credit card form, at: http://www.linguistlist.org/donate.html You can also pledge right now and pay later, at: http://www.linguistlist.org/pledge.html For all information on donating, including information on how to donate by check, money order, or wire transfer, please visit: http://www.linguistlist.org/donation.html ALREADY PLEDGED? If you have already pledged to LINGUIST and would now like to pay by credit card, please go to: http://linguistlist.org/creditcard-general.html and select 'PAY PREVIOUS PLEDGE' as the Type of Payment from the dropdown list provided. The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor. Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program. Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!Mail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issue
