The Third International Conference on Missionary Linguistics
concentrates on early-modern descriptions of non-Indo-European
languages. European expansion, colonisation and christianisation was
accompanied by the study and recording of the native languages.

Subjects: Missionary linguistics and linguistic thinking and
grammatical theory, historical and political implications,
methodology, didactic and pedagogical features, creativity in
descriptive techniques, differences and/ or similarities between works
from different traditions, periodisation in missionary linguistics.

Only missionary works written earlier than 1850 are discussed. There
are at least two special sessions on morphology (morphosyntax) and
Asia.
