Dear Linguist List Subscribers,

As a middle-age, stay-at-home mother the thought of returning to
school to pursue a masters degree was both exciting and very
frightening at the same time. I have Linguist List to thank for making
the transition smooth and enjoyable. To start with, I stumbled upon
Linguist List while writing my first research paper. I was thrilled to
find such a wealth of information available to anyone. I was also
thrilled that real linguists would take the time to answer a question
I submitted to the website. Linguist List was a major contributor to
the A+ I received on my first paper.

But wait, the contributions of Linguist List do not end there.
Through a classmate of mine, I ended up having the opportunity to work
for Linguist List.

As a new editor for Linguist, I can not emphasize enough how this
experience has added to my education. Everyone I work with has really
made me feel like I am part of the team, which is an outstanding
feeling after being home with children for the past ten years.
Additionally, it is a dream come true to be able to work in the field
which I am studying. I feel as though I am gaining so much extra
knowledge from Linguist and that extra knowledge truly enhances my

In sum, Linguist List is a wonderful thing and the opportunity to work
for Linguist is an experience for which I am most thankful. Without
the contributions of subscribers none of this would have been possible
for me. Thank you subscribers and keep contributing.

This Year the LINGUIST List hope to raise $60,000. This money will go
to help keep the List running, by supporting all of our Student
Editors for the coming year.

There are many ways to donate to LINGUIST!

You can donate right now using our secure credit card form, at:

You can also pledge right now and pay later, at:

For all information on donating, including information on how to

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University
and as such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is
a registered 501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is
38-6005986. These donations can be offset against your federal and
sometimes your state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more
information visit the IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will
match any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this
entails your contacting your human resources department and sending us
a form that the EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer.
This is generally a simple administrative procedure that doubles the
value of your gift to LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny.
Please take a moment to check if your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
