Applications and nominations are invited for several faculty positions
in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture in the College of
Education and Human Development. Texas A&M University is a Land
Grant/Sea Grant/Space Grant, Research I institution that aspires to
preeminence in teaching, research, and service.

ESL Education: Assistant/Associate Professor, Teach graduate and
undergraduate courses in second language acquisition and development
and English as a second language teaching methods. Search Chair:

Applications for the position should include evidence to support the
following requirements: Earned Doctorate in the appropriate field;
capacity and disposition to successfully engage in scholarly
activities such as researching, publishing, attaining extramural
funding to support R&D; prior success as a practicing educational
professional, commitment to developing exemplary university teaching;
ability to integrate and model the use of instructional technology
with school-aged learners and university students; ability to connect
subject matter discipline to critical and multicultural theories and
practices. In addition to the primary field of expertise and
preparation required for the position, expertise in additional
supporting areas such as social or cultural foundations of education
and international ESL education experience is preferred. The position
includes teaching undergraduate through Ph.D. level courses (typically
2 courses per semester); advising and mentoring graduate students;
pursuing programmatic research leading to refereed publications and
extramural research support; and serving the department, college,
institution, and the profession.

Clinical Faculty Positions: Assistant Clinical Professor (3-4
positions), teach undergraduate courses in ESL, language arts, math or
science; and serve in various supervisory or leadership roles within
the department. Expertise in middle school education is preferred.

Clinical faculty positions are an essential element of the
departmental mission and its differentiated staffing plan. The
department is heavily committed to a field-based program for the
initial preparation of teachers. Clinical faculty will typically
assume a 12-semester hour (4 course) undergraduate teaching
responsibility. Part of this responsibility may include liaison and
coordination efforts or other leadership tasks as defined by the
department. Some graduate teaching and serving on graduate student
committees is also required. Additional service to the profession and
scholarly involvement are valued, but service and scholarship
expectations are adjusted within the context of teaching
responsibilities of clinical faculty members. Clinical faculty must
have a doctoral or terminal degree; a minimum of 3 years of relevant
professional expertise; evidence of effective post-secondary teaching
experience; appropriate license of certification in field of
expertise; and an interest and commitment to engage in professional
leadership activities. Initial appointments are for three years,
contingent on satisfactory annual evaluations. Subsequent appointments
are for 5 years, contingent on satisfactory annual evaluations.
