linguistlist.org>Dear LINGUIST Subscribers, One useful area of our site is the language resources area, http://www.linguistlist.org/langres/index.html , which contains information on languages, language families, and links to numerous websites with language-related information. Our language search facility at: http://www.linguistlist.org/forms/langs/find-a-language-or-family.html searches a database of over 7,000 languages using over 47,000 language and alternate language names, including extinct and nearly extinct languages. We are in the process of expanding our language search facility, which now includes the ability to search for languages by geographic location. Our database also contains detailed information about language families and constructed languages. A new feature of our language search is providing links to language-specific information on other linguistics sites and search engines such as Ethnologue and Google as well as all the resources in the LINGUIST database related to the language. The language resources area provides items of interest to the casual investigator or the serious student. From the language resources area you can find links to dictionaries, natural language links including language families, language metasites, and writing systems, and constructed languages and language novelties. Whether you're just browsing language information or searching for a specific language, you'll find the language resources area useful.
