HANYANG UNIVERSITY AND UNIVERSITY OF OREGON
HANYANG-OREGON JOINT TESOL PROGRAM POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Instructor: Applied Linguistics and TESOL Methods (1 or 2 positions).
Renewable, one-year appointment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Teach content courses in Introduction to Linguistics, Second Language
Acquisition, and/or EFL Teaching Methods, at both undergraduate and
introductory graduate levels. The positions will be jointly appointed
by Hanyang University and University of Oregon, with the contract
administered by Hanyang University. Thus, the person will be
appointed as Instructor within Hanyang University and adjunct
instructor in the Department of Linguistics at the UO.

The students in this joint academic program are highly motivated
post-graduates in a six-month program, most seeking a terminal TESOL
Certificate, others taking courses for graduate credit, ultimately
hoping to transfer into an MA degree program in the US.

Basic responsibilities: 18 contact hours per week (one prep x 6
sections), Tuesday through Saturday; some course/materials
development; continued professional development (professional
publication and/or conference presentations); limited administrative
help. Second-year instructors may expect a reduction in teaching load
to support continued professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or related field;
native or native-like English proficiency. Teacher training
experience preferred.

SALARY: $36,000 (paid in Korean Won)

BENEFITS: 
Relocation expenses, fully furnished 3-bedroom apartment near subway
(20-minute commute), 6 weeks paid vacation, Health Insurance (50%
paid).

DEADLINE: Review of applications begins April 15, 2004 and will
continue until positions are filled.
