June 28, 2004 The July/August 2004 issue of _Mother Jones_ , pp. 75-79, has a very interesting article titled "Keepers of a Lost Language," written by Dashka Slater. The intro blurb reads "An 82-year-old linguist and his young prot�g� are among the last speakers of a native California language -- and its final chance."
