Dear Sir / Madam My name is Maria Gawrys. I am a student of the University of Bialystok, Poland. I am going to write a master's dissertation on the following topic "The Language of the Internet in the Eyes of Linguists". I am particularly interested in the features common to internet communication and the way the Internet influences the English language and the way we talk or write. I would be grateful if you could suggest me any sources of information, I mean web sites, articles, books etc, on this very subject. Kind regards, Maria Gawrys jmgawrysMail to author|Respond to list|Read more issues|LINGUIST home page|Top of issuepf.pl
Based on the theory ''what is hard to learn is easy to forget'' (Groot & Keijzer,2000), I intend to investigate the relationship between students' metacognitive self-assessment of some English words difficulty level and the attrition rate after 3-month nonuse(summer vacation). I would like comments and references on this subject. I will post a summary of the replies.
