Anticipating innovative, challenging contributions, we welcome proposals from sociolinguistics, linguistics, communication, journalism, semiotics, cultural theory and the social sciences. This is an interdisciplinary conference covering, but not limited to, such areas as Global media Shifting flows of communication Global and minority languages Policy and practices of global institutions and organisations Diaspora Global tourism Multimodality and global communication Colonisation and appropriation of communicative forms Global health Global governance Submitting proposals Proposals should be submitted by 29th October 2004. Abstracts should be in English, and not more than 200 words.
