We are pleased to announce that the 1st European Conference on Korean
Linguistics (ECKL) will be held in Leiden, The Netherlands, from
February 3-5, 2005. Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks (plus
10 minutes for discussion) on any aspect of Korean linguistics.
Besides the main conference, there is a workshop on 'the Altaic
Hypothesis: Korean in relation to other Altaic languages'.
Abstracts for this workshop are also invited (20-minute talks plus 10
minutes discussion).

Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per
author. All abstract should be in English, and submitted as e-mail
attachments, in PDF format. The subject of the message should specify
"Abstract", and the body should include the following
information: author's name(s), affiliation, e-mail address,
title of abstract, and area of linguistics (syntax, phonology,
morphology, phonetics, language-teaching, etc.) Abstracts should be
limited to one page (using 2.5 cm margins on all sides and 11pt font
size) with an optional additional page containing examples and
references.

Submission deadline: October 31, 2004
Notification of acceptance: December 1, 2004

Note that a limited number of grants will be available to support the
participation of linguists whose abstract has been accepted, and who
have no or limited access to institutional or departmental funding
sources in their home country. At the time of notification of
acceptance, participants who are in this situation will be invited to
submit a request for support.

Poster- und Pr�sentations-Session im Anschluss an die 41. Jahrestagung
des Instituts f�r Deutsche Sprache, am 18. M�rz 2005 von 9.00 bis
13.00 Uhr im Vortragssaal des IDS.

Im Anschluss an die 41. Jahrestagung des Instituts f�r Deutsche
Sprache zum Thema ''Text - Verstehen. Grammatik und dar�ber
hinaus'' (15.-17. M�rz 2005, Mannheim, Stadthaus, N1) findet am
Freitag, dem 18. M�rz 2005, von 9.00 bis 13.00 Uhr im Vortragssaal des
IDS (R5, 6-13, 68161 Mannheim) eine Poster- und Pr�sentations-Session
statt, auf der ''Aktuelle Projekte in Textlinguistik und
Textverstehensforschung'' vorgestellt werden k�nnen. Gedacht ist an
Dissertationen, Forschungsarbeiten, Computerprogramme und Anwendungen
aller Art zu Textproduktion und Textrezeption aus Linguistik,
Psycholinguistik und Neurolinguistik, Computerlinguistik
(Textgenerierung, Informationsextraktion), Textdidaktik
(Schreibdidaktik, Textberatung, Technische Redaktion), Deutsch als
Fremdsprache und anderen verwandten Gebieten. Die Veranstaltung soll
Gelegenheit geben, aktuelle Projekte bekannt zu machen, und den
Gedanken- und Erfahrungsaustausch zwischen Projektautoren und allen
thematisch Interessierten f�rdern.

Vorschl�ge f�r Poster und Kurzpr�sentationen (in deutscher Sprache,
max. Dauer: 10 min.) aus allen Bereichen der Textverstehensforschung
k�nnen bis 30. September 2004 eingereicht werden. Die
Pr�sentationsvorschl�ge sollen folgende Informationen enthalten:

- Titel des Projektes
- Art der Pr�sentation
- Namen der Autoren
- Institution
- Zusammenfassung (max. 150 W�rter)
- ben�tigte technische Ger�te

Aus den eingegangenen Vorschl�gen treffen die Organisatoren der Tagung
ggf. eine Auswahl. Die Referenten werden bis 31. Oktober 2004 �ber
Annahme oder Ablehnung ihrer Vorschl�ge informiert.
