University or Organization: Ohio State University Department: Linguistics Rank of Job: Rank Open Specialty Areas: North American Indian Languages Description: The Department of Linguistics at Ohio State University seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in North American Indian Languages. The rank is open, although preference will be given to senior candidates. The successful candidate will: 1) contribute to the scholarly mission of the Department of Linguistics with a substantial publishing record in the linguistic study and documentation of North American Indian languages, including experience in linguistic field work with Native American communities. 2) create and offer courses that contribute to OSU's comparative/interdisciplinary ethnic studies curriculum and OSU's American Indian Studies curriculum. The area of specialization in Linguistics is open. Experience in development of language education policy is a plus. The successful candidate will be expected to be active in research and publication, to meet standard departmental teaching requirements and to perform service duties as required by the department and university. The successful candidate is expected to have the Ph.D. at the time of the appointment, and will have a record of excellence in research and teaching and a history of positive relationships with undergraduate and graduate students. Dossiers consisting of a letter of interest, current curriculum vitae and the names of three references should be sent to the Department of Linguistics.
