University or Organization: University of Potsdam Department: Department of Linguistics Rank of Job: Techniqual Assistant Specialty Areas: General Linguistics, Experimental Linguistics Description: The linguistics department of the University of Potsdam (Germany) invites applications for a full position as a Techniqual Assistant (Psycho-Technischer Angestellter PTA, BAT-O Vc, three and a half years or longer). The position is affiliated to the new SFB (Special Research Area) on Information Structure. Within the SFB, twelve research projects from different areas of linguistics and cognitive psychology collaborate with each other. A major part of the project work concerns conducting linguistic experiments. Detailed information of the SFB can be found at: http://www.ling.uni-potsdam.de/sfb The position to be filled will support the experimental research. The support includes techniqual questions as well as experimental setups and data evaluation. Further, the Techniqual Assistant will deal with certain coordination duties of the SFB. Applicants should first of all have experience in different kinds of techniqual equipment such as recording facilities (audio and video), data digitization and data storing/archiving. A good knowledge of different kinds of experimental software is required as well as the readiness to get familiar with the experimental software of our labs. Applicants with good skills in the methodology of experimental design and statistics will be preferred. Knowledge of German is a requirement for this position, though candidates willing to learn this language will be considered, as well. The position can be filled immediately.
