Meeting Description:

ELS9 is the ninth in a series of successful seminars in the area of
English linguistics. This year's topic is the historical
linguistics-cognitive linguistics interface. The shift we propose
moves the new cognitive science from psychological adequacy to the
historical validation of metaphor and metonymy as dynamic factors in
the history of English.
