The Linguistics Department at the University of Maryland invites applications for an open rank position in Language Acquisition beginning August 2005. Applicants for the position should already have a PhD or expect to have one by next August, should be prepared to teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The ideal candidate should be able to build on one or more of the department-s existing strengths in linguistic theory, psycho/neurolinguistics, and computational linguistics, and should show potential for an extramurally funded research program. Teaching experience at the university level is also highly desirable. Letters of application should indicate whether applicants plan to attend the January 2005 LSA meeting in San Francisco or the BU Child Language Conference in November 2004. Applicants should send (i) a current cv, (ii) samples of written work and (iii) should arrange to have three letters of reference sent.
