The Department of English at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte
is looking for an individual specializing in Second Language Acquisition /
Language Learning, with interest and/or experience in English for Specific
Purposes and language pedagogy, to teach graduate and undergraduate courses
in Applied Linguistics. The candidate should provide evidence of commitment
to research and publication; he or she will be expected to conduct and
supervise research and to contribute to the growth and continuing
development of an MA track in ESP, an MEd in TESOL and an interdisciplinary
PhD in English Education. The successful candidate will join the applied
linguistics wing of a vibrant English department with a thriving
undergraduate major, a successful MA program, and a PhD program in the
planning stages.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in linguistics in hand by date of appointment
in August, 2005.
Desired qualifications: demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and
graduate students in SLA and other areas of TESL and applied linguistics.
Applicants should submit a statement of interest in the position, a
curriculum vitæ, an original transcript, and three original letters of
recommendation. The search committee will begin reviewing files on November
8 and plans to conduct interviews in the late fall, with campus interviews
in early January; additional materials may be requested at various stages
of the search process. Consideration of applications will continue until
the position is filled.
