 Description:
 
 The University of Montana, Department of Modern and Classical Languages and
 Literatures invites applications for an adjunct assistant professor or
 instructor of Japanese language and literature for a three-semester period
 beginning January 19, 2005, and terminating May 2006. Ability to teach all
 levels of Japanese language required; any literary specialization is possible,
 although premodern literature is preferred.  Ph.D. and ABD applicants will be
 given preference.  Evidence of excellence in successful language teaching
 experience at university level is required. UM offers both a minor and a major
 in Japanese and has more than 40 majors. Send application, including a letter of
 interest, curriculum vitae, three letters of reference (at least two of which
 must address excellent teaching experience) and proof of highest academic degree
 earned to the address below. Reading of complete applications will begin October
 30, 2004 and will continue until the position is filled. The University of
