Description:
Applications are invited for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant
Professor in Second Language Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in
Education of the University of Toronto (OISE/UT). The appointment will be made
in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, which offers graduate
programs in Curriculum and Second Language Education, as well as teacher
education programs in the Bachelor of Education and Master of Teaching formats.
Successful candidates will possess: a doctoral degree; extensive educational
experience related to ESL/EFL teaching; Oral Communication and ESL/EFL Pedagogy;
a distinctive research and publications record and an ongoing program of
research in Discourse Analysis. Applicants whose research is relevant to issues
of cultural and linguistic diversity are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in
French and in another international language would be an asset.
Responsibilities include: teaching graduate courses; supervising master's and
doctoral theses; teaching in the teacher education program; and carrying out
research related to OISE/UT's Modern Language Centre. Salary will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will commence on
July 1, 2005.
