University or Organization: University of Cincinnati Department: Teacher Education Rank of Job: Assistant Professor Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics, Foreign Language Education Description: Position: Assistant/Associate Professor - Foreign Language Education Qualifications: An earned doctorate with a specialization in foreign language education or equivalent; minimum of three years teaching experience in the upper grades (7-12); and evidence of scholarship, a current record of research are required. Scholarly publications, an ability to secure funded research, and successful college level teaching experience, including experience working with public schools are highly desired. Candidates who have experience working with minority populations in public schools are especially encouraged to apply. Salary is competitive and dependent upon preparation and experience. Responsibilities: The Division of Teacher Education invites applications for a faculty position at the University of Cincinnati, College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services. This tenure track position is in Secondary Foreign Language Education (7-12) beginning September 2004. Responsibilities include: Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses for the secondary education program especially the foreign language methods courses; supervising students in field based settings; conducting research, writing grants, and publishing; collaborating with area schools; advising graduate and undergraduate students; participating in the program governance; and engaging in division, college, university, and community service. Opportunities exist for funded summer research and/or summer school teaching, involvement in collaborative efforts across the University and area schools, and access to culturally diverse populations in city and area schools.
