Dr. David E. Vancil, Curator of the Cordell Collection of
Dictionaries, Indiana State University, is inviting proposals for
Warren N. Cordell Fellowships. Fields of research include
lexicography, lexicology, the history of English and other languages,
or related areas. One or more awards, currently designated in the
minimum amount of $100 per day (based on a five-day week) for up to
two weeks, will be made to one or more fellows after completion of
research in the collection. Individuals encouraged to apply include:
researchers with a record of publication in the areas supported by the
collection; recent postgraduates in applied linguistics, lexicography,
and similar fields who have completed a thesis or dissertation and
would like to continue their research in the holdings;
historiographers, historians, and researchers in subject fields who
need to consult lexicogological, encyclopedic, and similar source
material; and graduate students in various fields whose use of the
materials will facilitate completion of a thesis, dissertation or
other publication. For a full description of the Collection, see
