The Sixth International Conference on Multimodal Interfaces (ICMI'04) will be held October 13-15, 2004 at the Atherton Hotel and the School of Information Sciences Technology Building at the Pennsylvania State University. The three-day conference, sponsored by ACM, will bring together academia, industry and government agencies to present and discuss the latest multidisciplinary work on multimodal interfaces, systems, and applications. Topics of interest to the conference include: - multimodal input and output interfaces using modalities such as speech, vision, natural language, gesture, gaze, audio, haptics, and pen-based techniques. - multimodal architectures. - multimodal fusion and multisensory integration. - cognitive modeling of users. - multibiometric interfaces. - universal access interfaces. - multimodal wearable/mobile systems. - attentive and attentional interfaces. - system evaluation. - tools and system infrastructure for multimodal interfaces. - and applications of multimodal interfaces. The three days of invited talks, panels, single-track oral and poster presentations will facilitate interaction and discussion among researchers. The ICMI'04 proceedings will be published by ACM Press. Authors are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers with a maximum length of 8 pages.
