University or Organization: University of Marburg Department: Department of English Rank of Job: Lecturer Specialty Areas: TESOL/TEFL Required Language(s): English (Code = ENG); German, Standard (Code = GER) Description: The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Institute of English and American Studies at the University of Marburg, Germany, invites applications for a 3-year full-time position (with a possible extension for another 2 years) of Lecturer (English language instructor, TESOL/TEFL) commencing 1 October, 2004. Salary: commensurate with qualifications and experience, approx. EURO 39,000/p.a. (BAT IIa German scale). Job Description: The appointed lecturer will teach graduate and undergraduate English language courses (including Grammar, Translation) for advanced learners at university level, as well as introductory classes in English linguistics (Introduction to Linguistics, Phonetics and Phonology) with a teaching load of 16 hours per week. S/He will also be involved in examining at all levels in all degree programs, and will participate in the academic self-governance of the department. Qualifications: � University degree in English (BA, MA, or comparable degree; if BA in English: MA in a relatefd field, e.g. German or other languages) � University degree in English as a Foreign Language, e.g. MA oder Diploma in TEFL/TESOL � Native speaker command of British or American English � Good working knowledge of German � FLT experience Official closing date for applications is 24 March 2004.
