Dissertation Abstract: 

This work investigates the foregrounded linguistic elements in the
major poems of the modern American poet Carl Sandburg. The analysis
conducted is administered on three levels: syntactic, lexical and
typo-phonological. It is shown how Sandburg is clever at using all
types of linguistic tools at hand to concentrate his message and
present it to his readers in a crystal-claer way. He is rather
creative in exploiting these tools to the extent that he intermingles
different types in an astonishing perfect way.
