Description:
EDGAR Online Inc., a leading provider of online access to Securities and
Exchange Commission filings is seeking a candidate (BA level or graduate
level education in linguistics) to assist in research related to current
data-extraction initiatives.
The successful candidate will have native or near-native fluency in English
with some experience or education in syntax and semantics. The candidate
will also ideally have strong basic knowledge of corporate financial
filings, and the kind of language used in such filings.
The project will involve browsing different document types from different
companies, searching for certain keywords and syntactic constructions in
which those keywords are found, possibly recording number and type of
construction for each document type. The project will continue for up to a
year or until such time as sufficient data is gathered. Much of the work
will be done on-site in the EDGAR Online offices in New York City.
This is a part-time position.
