2005 Blankensee Colloquium - Language Evolution: Cognitive and Cultural Factors Date: 14-Jul-2005 - 16-Jul-2005 Location: Berlin, Germany Contact: Katja Egli Contact Email: katja.egli exonium.de Meeting URL: http://www.uni-bielefeld.de/lili/personen/gjaeger/blankensee/ Linguistic Field(s): Historical Linguistics Meeting Description: Research in Creolization, in Grammaticalization, and in Models for Evolutionary Processes investigate phenomena and facts of language development and change from different ankles. The three fields bring their own perspectives and methods to bear on a common range of facts in language history and change. The Colloquium aims at stimulating contact between scholars with different background and provides a forum for interdisciplinary exchange and discussion. The Colloquium is organized by Regine Eckardt (Uni Göttingen and ZAS, Berlin) Gerhard Jäger (Uni Bielefeld and ZAS, Berlin) Tonjes Veenstra (Free University, Berlin) The conference will start on Thursday, July 14. with an evening lecture by Michael Tomasello at 17.oo at the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften, Leibnitz Saal at Berlin Mitte (Jägerstr. 22/23). The workshop takes place on Friday July 15. and Saturday, July 16. at the Akademie Schmöckwitz South-East of Berlin (for travel info, see: http://www.akademie-schmoeckwitz.de and English instrucutions on the conference site). We welcome participants who want to attend and contribute to discussions. For organisatorical reasons, we require online registration (see below). We can offer free participation for a limited number of guests (accommodation not included).
