University or Organization: Dublin City University Department: SALIS & School of Computing Job Rank: Researcher Specialty Areas: Computational Linguistics; Text/Corpus Linguistics; Translation Required Language(s): German, Standard (GER) Japanese (JPN) Description: Postgraduate Research Opportunities The School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies (SALIS) and the School of Computing at Dublin City University are pleased to announce three postgraduate researcher positions to work on a project in the area of Data-Driven Machine Translation for audio-visual applications. Successful applicants will be registered for a Masters or Doctoral degree by research at Dublin City University and will receive a stipend to the value of 19,000 euro (inc. fees and travel allowance) in the first year (to be reviewed at the end of the first year). We are looking for two researchers with: - an honours Bachelors degree in translation studies, language, inguistics, computational linguistics, or other relevant area - knowledge of German or Japanese - familiarity with computer-aided translation and alignment techniques - excellent communication skills and preferably - knowledge of screen translation - excellent corpus-analysis skills We are looking for one researcher with: - an honours Bachelors degree in computational linguistics, computer science, or other relevant area - excellent communication skills and preferably - experience in implementing Example-based Machine Translation Systems - knowledge of automatic evaluation metrics for Machine Translation Applicants should send their CVs and letter of motivation to Rodney Lafferty (rodney.lafferty dcu.ie) at the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies.
