University or Organization: Universitat Pompeu Fabra Department: Translation and Philology Job Rank: Associate Professor Specialty Areas: Multilingual Communication Description: Graduate assistantships 2005-2006 Department of Translation and Philology (DTF) Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Barcelona Description: The Department of Translation and Philology at Pompeu Fabra University is offering THREE graduate assistantships for doctoral study beginning academic year 2005-2006 (start date: October 1, 2005). Monthly stipend between EUR 859.00 and EUR 1034.00 gross (before taxes) depending on qualifications. The assistantships are for one year, renewable for a second year. Extensions up to four years are possible if certain conditions are met. Candidates should have very good grade point averages (GPAs). For assistantships 1 & 2 successful candidates should be able to assist in the teaching of German and/or German translation. For assistantship 3 the successful candidate should be able to assist in the teaching of a variety of Linguistics courses. The assistantships are for PhD students of DTF, so incoming students must first pre-register in either of the two doctoral programs offered by DTF (enrollment fees covered by assistantship; pre-registration is done on-line on DTF's webpage: http://www.upf.edu/dtf): - Multilingual Communication: studies in translation, literature and language. DTF's own PhD program - Cognitive Science and Language, jointly offered by UPF and four other Catalan universities. (Note: To be eligible students must enroll through DTF) Both programs have received the 'Mención de Calidad', an award for quality in PhD training, from the Spanish Ministry of Education.
