University or Organization: North Carolina State University Department: Foreign Languages and Literatures Job Rank: Associate Professor Specialty Areas: Sociolinguistics Required Language(s): Spanish (spa) Description: Assistant or Associate Professor of Spanish, specialization in Sociolinguistics. Candidates should have an established research agenda, demonstrated success in teaching all levels of undergraduate Spanish language and linguistics and the potential to teach graduate courses in Spanish sociolinguistics. Teaching areas may include: intermediate Spanish, phonetics, advanced Spanish grammar and communication skills (conversation and composition), introduction to Spanish linguistics, and graduate courses in sociolinguistics and history of the Spanish language. A combination of one or more of the following is also desirable: ability to teach undergraduate and graduate translation courses, interest in developing Spanish courses for native speakers, in depth knowledge of the ACTFL Oral Proficiency standards, with possible interest in pursuing certification, experience working with K-12 Spanish teachers and/or teaching assistants, and technology-enhanced language learning.
