University or Organization: University of Illinois at Chicago Department: ENGLISH Job Rank: Assistant Professor Specialty Areas: Applied Linguistics; Chinese Required Language(s): Chinese, Mandarin (cmn) Description: Assistant Professor, Chinese and Applied Linguistics, beginning, Fall 2006. Candidate will teach courses in Chinese and Applied Linguistics and/or Linguistics, as assigned. Candidate will also coordinate Chinese basic language program and supervise any other instructors. Candidates must have Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics or related field, a record of research, and experience teaching Chinese at the university level. Position begins August 16, 2006. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue through December 2, 2005 or until the position is filled. Send a CV, the names of three references with contact information, and two brief statements: (1) description of research agenda, (2) statement of teaching history and ideas for Chinese language instruction at an urban, public university to Jessica Williams, Chair, Chinese Search.
